"I go wherever creativity takes me..."

What are your roots? Where are you from?

My mother is from France, my dad from Austria. I think my styles have my mother’s French elegance and my dad’s deep grounded relation to nature. I did spend my summers in Bretagne at wild beaches and also in Upper Austria where we had a farm in front of my grandparent’s house.

Describe your personal style as an artist. Also, do you like to dress up or you prefer expressing yourself through your pieces?

I do like to dress up for special occasions but most of the time I wear comfortable clothes. Most of the time I am doing handwork so a pair of jeans with a t-shirt serves best ☺ You often think designers should always make their own clothes, just because they can, but honestly I am lacking the time to sit down and pattern my own little summer dress.

I just love your vision. Where do you find your inspiration?

I often go to a library near my flat where I can find old books and images. This is always better than an internet research. But I do spend a lot time on tumblr, instagram and blogs when I am looking for inspirational pictures. I am lucky that my parents’ groomsman is an orthopaedist he gave me a lot of old orthopaedic papers as well as some medical feedback to the pieces.

What is your creative process: do you sketch at first, listen particular music, collaborate with other artists, etc?

In collaborations, I would examine the other artist / label to find a good balance between the two styles. For my collections I often captured by objects I see or that just appear without any particular reason or research. These objects mesmerize me so much that I cannot let go and start my research on them. I do need some private space for that and need to be alone somewhere. During this process I often listen to Hawaiian music because it calms me down. I’ve lived there during my studies of economics. In times before fashion week everybody in my studio knows full speed is on when they can hear Hawaiian Music out of my earphones.

Your artistic statement.

I go wherever creativity takes me.

Where do you shop for your fabrics and other materials?

I regularly go to fabric fairs to Paris and Italy but I also shop in my little fabric shops in Berlin.

Do you have favorite artists, designers, scientists, writers, politician etc?

My favorite fashion designer is Alexander McQueen and since I’ve worked for this label, I realized that the dream can come true. He made his first collections in his garage in east London with friends. And even after his death his spirit lives in the whole building. I’ve learned to work hard for my dream. One of my favorite writers is Hermann Hesse, I really appreciate his quotes.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Your plans if you do not mind to share

I see my base still in Berlin in 5 years but I want to grow bigger – especially sales wise– the Asian market is very important to me. I feel like Asian street style is very open minded and ready for avant-garde leather styles.

You favorite quote.

It comes from my dad and taught me a lot me “the master shines in the lack of resources”

What moves you?

The fact that my family and friends believe in me.

Your favorite color, why?

Usually I would always state a color of the current collection because I get so in love with them and I see them all the time. But the truth is I am a huge pink fan. Especially when it is combined with anything from hello kitty.

Name your favorite cafe in your city? Where do you shop for food, fashion, in your city.

My favorite cafe is Anna Blume in Berlin, because they have the best breakfast etageres. I am not very good with coffee though since I never had one in my live. I am more the diet coke type.

When I decide to do some cloth shopping I love hanging around in Vintage shops like MADE in Berlin and BEYOND RETRO in London and Stockholm. There is a concept store in Vienna called SNEAK IN, which friends of mine opened and I love to hang out there because they also have this eating-reading-area. My work will be available there too ☺ Regarding food shopping I am a huge fan of markets. In Berlin the MAYBACHUFER market or any market around the world is amazing for me. I love trying things, buying awesome little thing, even if it is a little bracelet or some special honey – I never go home empty handed ☺

Your favorite place on Earth. Your dream place.

My favorite place on earth is my parent’s house. It is the place where I always have the smells, tastes and noises of my childhood around me. This is where I can calm down gracefully and I feel totally safe.

What can make Earth a better place in terms of environment, energy, peace?

I think only Captain planet is empowered to make it better within short time. Every person can help environment by being aware of his/her ecological footprint.

If you had an opportunity what would you change about the world? How can your vision, your creations can impact our surrounding?

Believe me I am already thankful and happy to have the opportunity to have an impact in the fashion world. There is a lot I would change in the world but unfortunately there are other people whose positions enables them to make huge decisions which are based on too many different perspectives and not always towards a positive impact.
