ALEXANDER CALDER'S EXHIBITION
AT VENUS OVER MANHATTAN
“How can art be realized?” Calder asked. “Out of volumes, motion, spaces bounded by the great space, the universe…Not extractions, but abstractions. Abstractions that are like nothing in life except in their manner of reacting.”

Intangibility of an enigmatic vitality inflates air in the gallery. Shadows prevail the sculptures while unveiling a continuation of parallel worlds and emphasizing shapes of Alexander Calder's eleven sculptures. Calder prioritized an idea of a sculpture as an entity that equilibrates energy in a living space. The New Ritou for instance, mesmerizes with it's floating shadows that unwind ethereally balanced elements while whimsical wind goes through the spacious gallery. At the first glance something frightening may appear in this dark presentation yet a dreamy magnitude of the structurally amusing pieces overtakes the viewer.
